Bring enough clothes to last the week. We suggest that you make sure that all your luggage is clearly marked, inside and out, with your name and address. Dresses, blouses and skirts or nice pantsuits will be required for the Opening Ceremony, City Pictures, City Government Celebration, County and State Government Celebration, and Joint Session of the House and Senate. Slacks, pant skirts, walking shorts, and jeans are permissible for all other activities. NO short shorts, NO mini-skirts, and NO tattered or torn jeans are permitted. Candidates for office should dress accordingly. Also bring rain wear and comfortable shoes. You will do a lot of walking. See "Dress Code" under Class of 2019 for specific examples.
You must also bring at least two single sheets for a twin size bed, one pillow and pillow case, a light blanket or quilt, personal care items, towels, washcloths, soap, a fan (most residence halls have no air conditioning), clothes hangers, alarm clock, and, if desired, a hair dryer, camera, calculator, and radio. NO TV’s or appliances.
In addition to the three functions listed, the dress code is in effect for the County and State Government Celebration and the Joint Session of the House and Senate. For a check list of what you should bring, see page A-4 of your Delegate Information Booklet. Of course during periods when the Dress Code is in effect, proper shoes are also required. Flip-flops are NOT considered appropriate during these periods.
